Andrea Conti

Andrea Conti has been Principal Trombone of the "Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia" since 2003. A pupil  of professors Giulio Gabbiani and Giuseppe Mangione at the Music School "Giuseppe Verdi" in Prato, he graduated in 1985 at the age of 18 at the "Istituto Musicale Pietro Mascagni" of Livorno. He subsequently studied with Vinko Globokar at the Fiesole Music School and with William Cramer, lecturer at the Florida State University. He continued his studies with American teachers both in Chicago and attending master classes in Italy, Switzerland and Germany under Jacobs, Kleinhammer, Vernon, Crisafulli and Alessi, among others. He has won auditions at the "Orchestra Sinfonica dell'Emilia Romagna Arturo Toscanini", the European Community Youth Orchestra "E.C.Y.O", the San Carlo Opera House in Naples , the Rome Opera House, the "Teatro alla Scala" in Milan, the Florence Opera House "Maggio Musicale Fiorentino", the "Bayerische Staatsoper" in Munich. He has been engaged in an intense chamber activity with the ensemble "Armonia d'Ottoni", with the brass quintet "Ottoni Fiorentini", with the group "Opera Brass" of the Bayerische Staatsorchester and with the ensembles  "Italian Brass Quintet" and "Italian Brass Ensemble". In 2002, he recorded Nino Rota's Trombone Concerto with "I Virtuosi Italiani" for the English label Chandos, under the baton of Marzio Conti. Teacher of trombone and tuba at the Music School "Giuseppe Verdi" in Prato for nine years, he is regularly invited by important theatres and orchestras as a member of juries for auditions and competitions. He has given master classes and has performed in concerts for various musical institutions, such as the "Associazione EuroMusica" of Asolo, the "Associazione Diapason" in Cremona, the Musical Institute "Baravalle" in Fossano, the "Antonio Buzzolla" Conservatory in Adria, the "Arrigo Pedroll" Conservatory in Vicenza, the Geneva Conservatory, the "Mousikè" Association of Martina Franca, the "Giovanni Paisiello" Music Institute of Taranto and the "Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia". Between 1997 and 2003 he was teacher of trombone and tuba, brass chamber music and brass orchestra section in various specialization courses held by the "Arturo Toscanini" Foundation in Parma. He has also taught the post-graduate course of trombone at the "Giovanbattista Pergolesi" Conservatory of Fermo.
