Ensemble Novecento

??? Paragrafo[1]/Immagine/Link ???
The chief objective of the master programmes at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is to offer students the opportunity to combine their training with rich opportunities for real-world performance experience.
Great emphasis is given to public performance, an integral part of each student’s training, through a series of artistic projects designed for audiences at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
For this reason, the Ensemble Novecento – the orchestra ensemble composed of students of the Master Courses – was created as a complement to the teaching activity.
Under the musical direction of Carlo Rizzari, the ensemble focuses chiefly on the study and the performance of the modern and contemporary repertoire; particularly important among its commitments is the performance of the final Concert of the Composition Course, which premières the pieces composed by Maestro Ivan Fedele’s students for the diploma examination.

The Ensemble is also a key figure in the project promoted by the Accademia dedicated to the Musical Theatre of the XXth century, which in 2011 staged Leóš Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen in Jonathan Dove’s chamber orchestra version conducted by Marco Angius, followed in 2012 by Maurice Ravel’s L’heure espagnole and Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi conducted by Carlo Rizzari.
In December 2015, the Ensemble took part in the semi-staged performance of L’impresario in angustie by Domenico Cimarosa, with the participation of artists from the Santa Cecilia Opera Studio.
In May 2016, the Ensemble was conducted by Marcello Panni in the staging of Sylvano Bussotti’s opera La Passion selon Sade, a co-production with Rome’s Teatro dell’Opera. The latest production prominently featuring the young orchestra ensemble took place in March 2017: the Italian première of the opera Anna e Zef, a multimedia work co-produced with the Netherland Philharmonic Orchestra within the Music Up Close Network project. Thanks to the legacy left by the late author and director Ninì Perno, the Accademia has established in her name a scholarship programme to support the Ensemble young musicians.
