Principal Oboe of the "Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia" in Rome, he held the same position in the "Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala" and in the "Philarmonic Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala" from 1995 to 2008. He started very young to study piano and then moved on to oboe at the age of eleven. He studied with Fabio Fabrizzioli and graduated with Luciano Franca in 1986, with top marks and honours, at the "G. Rossini" Conservatory in Fermo. He continued his musical studies with Maurice Bourgue at the " Music School of Saluzzo". Among the many awards received, he has obtained the Second Prize in the Jugendmusik Wettbewerb "European Price 1988" for oboe in Zurig and six other prizes in Chamber Music competitions, in duo with piano. Alongside the activity as Principal Oboist, Francesco Di Rosa is developing an important soloist career, as well as an intense chamber music activity, that sees him active in many ensembles: "I Solisti della Scala", the "Trio d'Ance Italiano", the "Nuovo Quintetto Italiano", the duo with the pianist Nazzareno Carusi and "I Virtuosi della Scala", of which he is a founding member. He has worked with the greatest contemporary conductors and has performed many concertos throughout the world. He has taught at the Conservatories "G. Frescobaldi" of Ferrara and "San Pietro a Majella" of Naples, at the Musical School of Milan and at La Scala Music Academy. He has held Master Classes in the USA, Japan, Spain, Germany and in several Conservatories in Italy. In June 2004, at the Campidoglio Palace in Rome, he was awarded the "Picus del Ver Sacrum" prize by the Marche Study Centre and the prize "Marchigiano of the Year 2004". In November 2004 Montegranaro, his hometown, proclaimed him Honorary Citizen. He was Vice President of the "La Scala" Philarmonic. He has been the Artistic Director of the "Friends of Montegranaro Music Association" since it was founded. He plays a Buffet Green Line instrument. He has recorded many CDs and DVDs for various labels: Musicom, Emi, Thymallus, Bongiovani, Preiser Records, Real Sound, Tactus, Dad Records, Aulia.
