Audition programme: Snare drum and xylophone: two studies and two orchestral excerpts, of applicant’s choice.

Objective and contents of course
The course shall focus on the technique and interpretation of the main orchestra excerpts for percussions, coupling advanced professional training with the development of emotional self-control, in view of an accurate preparation for auditions and competitions.
 

 

Edoardo Giachino held a diploma in percussion instruments at the Conservatory "G.Ghedini" of Cuneo with Riccardo Balbinutti; later he attended the biennial specialization courses at the Accademia Internazionale of Milan and thanks to a grant from De Sono Adssociation for the Music he studied with Emanuele Sejourné at the Conservatoire National di Strasburgo and with Gustavo Gimeno, percussionist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

In 2001 he won the Yamaha Scholarship Award.
In the orchestral field he has collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, the Mozart Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Arturo Toscanini in Parma, the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna with directors as Antonio Pappano, Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, S.Ozawa, Lorin Maazel , Yuri Temirkanov, Mstislav Rostropovich, Myung-Whun Chung, Riccardo Chailly, Georges Pretre, Kurt Masur, Daniele Gatti, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, Tan Dun.
He has collaborated with various groups of Chamber Music, especially in contemporary music and solo percussion, as Divertimento Ensemble and Demoè Percussion Ensemble, and also with ensemble of ancient music as Zefiro and the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra di Toronto.
 
He is founder of TAKT-TIME, an ensemble that involves some of the most promising young percussionists of the Italian music scene. In 2007 he won the competition for percussion organized by the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and in 2009 that by the Symphony Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in which occupies the role of coordinator of the percussion section, with which he also performed as a soloist performing Tan Dun's music. In the pedagogical field, he is a professor at the Master Courses of Accademia of Santa Cecilia and creator of PercussJuni project, a workshop that deals with the musical education of children and youth; he taught at the conservatories of Turin, Avellino and Salerno and held master classes for different musical institutions. He is endorses Zildjian, BlackSwampPercussion, Tama and AK-drums.
