Woodwinds & Brass, Timpani & Percussions

Woodwinds & Brass and Timpani & Percussions are the master programmes aimed at  instrumentalists holding degree diplomas and in possession of outstanding performance skills.
The courses are taught by the Principals of the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
The course duration of each course is one academic year. Following regular course attendance, a certificate of attendance will be issued upon request.

REGULATIONS
Requirements for admission
The courses are open to students of any nationality who meet the following requirements:
a) possession of a traditional Italian Conservatory diploma (old system) or a first or second level degree earned in the discipline for which they are applying.
b) age not exceeding 30 years (35 for students in the Timpani and Percussion courses).
 
Exceptions to these requirements may be permitted only in exceptional cases, with recognized artistic qualities and subject to the evaluation and approval of both the teacher and the President of the Accademia.
Candidates who meet the above requirements will be admitted to courses as regular students, provided they pass the entrance audition.
The courses are open to the enrolment of auditors, upon presentation of an appropriate academic/artistic CV and subject to the approval of the course’s teacher.
The Accademia reserves the right to not activate the courses should the minimum number of 5 active students not be reached.
 
Entrance auditions
Entrance auditions will be held in Rome, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Viale Pietro de Coubertin, 10. 
The programme All pieces must be prepared in full, and the concertos and solo works should preferably be performed from memory. The Examination Panel, at its sole discretion, may ask applicants to perform all or part of the examination programme. The Accademia will provide applicants with a piano accompanist: in this regard, applicants should appear for the examination carrying the music for their audition programme, including the parts for the piano accompaniment where applicable, as well as a valid identification document.
 
Applications for admission
Applications for admission must be submitted to the Accademia offices (Segreteria Didattica) by no later than the deadline for each individual course, by filling out the FORM.
Proof of successful application will consist of an email notification sent by the Fondazione, which the applicant shall produce on the day of the audition.
Please attach the following documents to your online application:
For active students
·              a copy of your diploma certificate;
·              your artistic CV with a specific list of repertoire;
·              a photocopy of your passport or identification document;
·              the examination programme you have chosen;
·              proof of payment of the examination admission fee.
 
For auditing students
·              your artistic CV; 
·              a photocopy of your passport or identification document.

Fees for entrance examinations and courses
Active students:
€ 70.00 entrance examination;
€ 1,200.00 annually for each course; 
 
Auditing students:
- € 350.00 annually

Proof of payment of students’ fees must be delivered to the Academic Secretary (Segreteria Didattica) by no later than thirty days from the start of the lessons, under penalty of exclusion from the course.
Absence from lessons or entrance audition not entitle the student to any refund.
 
The course fees include:
 
ACTIVE STUDENTS
• 10 sessions with their teacher, 3 of which feature the assistance of a piano accompanist;
• simulated auditions;
• final concerts and recitals in the halls of the Auditorium Parco della Musica;
• opportunities to get involved in the artistic activities of the Ensemble Novecento.

Teachers will designate active students who have distinguished themselves during the courses to the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia artistic direction, for possible collaborations with the Orchestra and/or for possible inclusion in the Fondazione’s artistic productions.
 
AUDITORS
• attendance at course lessons, and possibly a brief meeting/audition with the teacher during the year;
• opportunities to be involved in any group activities, at the teacher’s discretion.
